WIDENER ESPORTS TACKLE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS IN SCRIMMAGE
Margaret McCann
The Widener Esports League of Legends team had their second scrim of the year last Thursday. They plan to hold at least one scrim, or scrimmage, a week on Tuesdays in preparation for their upcoming season which starts in two weeks.

This scrim was a series of three practice games that were originally supposed to be against a rival college’s esports team. However, after the opponent failed to show up to the match, the League of Legends team had to find a new rival to play against at the last minute. This was only a minor hiccup, and thanks to the efforts of Coach Hartnett the team was soon off and running in a game against the Elventus Esports team. They put up a fierce fight, using constant communication, teamwork, and strategy as the events of the match unfolded.
In a few weeks, the team will participate in the League of Legends NACE (National Association of Collegiate Esports) competition, in which they will play against some of the best college League of Legends players in the country. The team feels confident about their upcoming season, and is excited to see all that the year has to offer.
