WIDENER’S MEN SOCCER FALLS TO SUSQUEHANNA

Those who attended the soccer game on Saturday definitely got a kick out of watching our boys take on a close game with the River Hawks. Despite home field advantage, Widener falls 4-2 in their first matchup with Susquehanna this season.
In the first half, the Pride dominated in offensive attack, outshooting the River Hawks10-5. Susquehanna scores the first goal of the game within the first eight minutes. In a beautiful play, Stefan Turano (#8), dodged and weaved through four defenders, scoring for the Pride, and tying the game with seven minutes left in the first half.
Widener takes on the lead when Sean Fatiga (#2), assist from Michael Donaghy (#16),scores within the first two minutes of the second half. This lead was briefly commemorated as the River Hawks evened out the score with a goal off a throw in shortly afterwards. Susquehanna takes the lead over the Pride in the 61st minute. Despite the Pride’s perseverance, the River Hawks sealed the victory with the final goal of the game in the 88th minute.
The Pride will next appear at Neumann University on Wednesday, September 22. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
