WHAT TO DO ON THE WEEKENDS

Zoe Sweet

So many students are at a loss for what to do on the weekend. It is hard to find things to do when one does not know where to look. For students who do not have a car on campus, there are a couple of options to entertain oneself. First off, look at the ongoing events that occur on campus. Although it may not be something you love, there usually is free food and some fun activities. If that is not the vibe you are going for, there are a couple of restaurants that are within walking distance, which include Unos, Number 1 China - Chester, LA Taco Bistro, Giorgio’s Pizza, Liberty Steaks and Hoagies, Wawa, Little Caesars Pizza, Ocean Crab, and Wing Hut. If one wants to travel off campus, the Campus Safety Shuttle will take people to Springfield Mall, Walmart, Media, and seasonal activities. Although those places alone might not seem alluring, the Mall has lots of food and a Target inside. Walmart is located in a shopping center, and Media is a small town to walk around and enjoy. There are plenty of options that require absolutely no car.

Having a car on campus allows one to venture out a little further. One can go to Springfield, Media, or Swarthmore if they want to walk around a small town. Lincoln Memorial Field, Citizens Bank Park, and Wells Fargo Center are all within 25 minutes, where one can catch a show or a game. One can visit the Family Fun Drive-In Theaters, Lucky Penny Alpacas, Stinger Waterfront, Xscape the Room, Linvilla Orchards, Putt-Putt Golf and Games, and the Swarthmore Farmers Market. If one is feeling adventures, Widener is only a short distance away from Jersey, Philadelphia, DC, and New York, which all have fun things to do.

There are always events to find on or around campus to entertain oneself. Look into the  activities that are local and just experience every moment possible.
